CASE STUDY: Confusion in the workplace

A section had a poor reputation in the wider organisation. The Manager blamed the workers and the workers blamed management. Allegations of poor performance, harassment and bullying were being levelled from staff and the Manager. The dysfunctional workplace meant that little was being achieved.

Jo and Craig conducted a thorough managerial enquiry over five months, interviewing all staff and allowing them to air their grievances.

The outcome was the staff felt that Senior Management had heard their issues. The Manager was given remedial training, mediation was arranged between the Manager and staff and processes were put into place to ensure regular meetings, feedback and appropriate behaviour were implemented.

Senior Management report a more functional, dynamic and responsive workplace.
